Sophomore earns Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after record-breaking performance against South Dakota

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State football sophomore Julius Brents was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

The honor is the first of Brents' career and the first for a Wildcat since Malik Knowles earned the award on Oct. 18, 2021.

Brents had a record-breaking performance in K-State's 34-0 victory over South Dakota on Saturday, returning two punts for touchdowns of 74 and 82 yards, respectively.

The 82-yard return is tied for the second-longest punt return in school history, while the two punt returns for touchdowns are tied for the most by a Wildcat in a single game.

Brents was also named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

The Wildcats (2-0) will be back in action on Saturday when they host Missouri (2-0) at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
